CUNE is a network of comics organisations, festivals and individual artists and editors in northern Europe. Its aim is to create closer collaboration between comics actives of the region and organise international projects that will benefit the whole comics scene.
CUNE was formed in December 2011 at an international Comics Around the Baltic Sea Seminar held in Tallinn. The seminar was organised by the Finnish Comics Society and the participants represented organisations, publishers and independent comic artists from northern Europe and neighbouring countries. At the moment CUNE has partners in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Russia.
CUNE Comics-in-Residence Programme
CUNE Comics-in-Residence (CUNE CiR) gives comic artists and other professionals a chance to explore the culture, the people and the local comics scene of their neighbouring European countries. The application for the second round are now open. Read the instructions and apply for a residency in Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga or Malmö here!
The residencies are organised by the Finnish Comics Society, kuš!komikss, the Estonian Comics Society and the Swedish Comics Association.
CUNE Comics-in-Residence is supported by EU Culture Programme, Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
